The Kirk is proud to partner with several non-profits in the Denver area to help serve our neighbors in need.
Denver Inner City Parish ("The Parish”) welcomes and empowers people in need through support, determination and community.
The Kirk partners with the Parish throughout the year including a School Supply drive in the fall, a toy drive and assisting with toy distribution during the Holidays and throughout the year providing and serving meals for the Saturday Seniors Program.

Our commitment to service calls us to not only address the immediate needs of those in our community but also to work to address systemic issues of injustice. The mission of the Interfaith Alliance of Colorado is to “promotes justice, religious liberty, and interfaith understanding through education, advocacy, and relationship building.” We are a Congregational Partner of the Interfaith Alliance working with them in advocating for human rights, equality and opportunity for all. www.interfaithallianceco.org
In the fall of 2014 the Kirk Mission Committee learned that the United Church of Christ was encouraging churches to support and encourage literacy in their communities. From this, the idea of a church sponsored Little Free Library was born - constructed and now officially open for business. We hope to provide our community with life-giving books, both fiction and non-fiction for adults and children. But the books do not only come from the church. Our sign invites all of our neighbors to "take a book, leave a book". We hope that a shared experience of the written word will enhance inclusiveness and relationships among neighbors as we learn more about each other, about God, and God's world!
As Jesus reminds us in Matthew 25 when we feed the hungry we
are feeding the one we follow. We partner with Metro Caring to address hunger
and food insecurity in our community. All are invited to join with us in our
efforts as well as to contact these organizations directly to volunteer or
contribute. Metro Caring provides nutritious food to hungry families and
individuals while promoting health and self-sufficiency.
Each year the Kirk hosts a Rice and Beans Event. In March
2016 we collected rice and beans and together divided them into individual and
family size servings to be distributed at Metro Caring. Our total reached over
1000 lbs. We then invited our neighbors to join us in this project and the Cory
Merrill Neighborhood donated over 200 lbs that were divided and delivered to
Metro Caring in June.
Additionally, each year our Young Adults group hosts a
Souper Bowl of Caring Event on Superbowl Sunday. All finds raised are donated
to Metro Caring.
Along with our organized events several of our members work
a weekly volunteer shift at Metro Caring. For more information contact the Kirk
office or go to www.metrocaring.org
