Denver Inner City Parish

The Denver Inner City Parish is a human services nonprofit that “welcomes and empowers people in need through support, determination and community.” They aim to empower communities, support personal transformations, and create self-sustaining lifestyles by focusing on education and youth through their La Academia Program, hunger relief and nutrition through their food pantry, community enrichment through support for undocumented immigrants and programs for seniors and people looking at college, and individual empowerment through their program for evolving fathers.  Every year, they serve over 26,000 people across a multitude of programs offered at three Denver locations.
The Kirk frequently participates in programs with DICP including an annual school supply drive for La Academia and an annual toy drive for the Holiday season.

Be a part of the Denver Inner City Parish 39th annual Thanksgiving Community Dinner. The dinner will be held on Tuesday, November 21 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at DICP at 1212 Mariposa. We are anticipating that we will have 400 people attend the meal! If you are interested in donating food or volunteering for the event contact Rev. Selena as we hope Kirk folks will serve as a group!

Toy Drive

It is hard to believe the holidays are quickly approaching and it is time to start thinking about Christmas! Last year Denver Inner City Parish partnered with Kirk of Bonnie Brae UCC and you made our Gift Give Away a huge success. The gifts that your church members donated made a tremendous difference in the lives of so many needy families in Denver. Because of your generosity they had a holiday to remember!
Our 2017 Gift Give Away will be held on Friday, December 15. This will be our 39th year of providing gifts to undeserved families in our community and we are looking forward to a day filled with holiday cheer and making dreams come true. We are anticipating that we will help over 1,000 families – this means we will need over 3,000 gifts to give away! Our goal is to be able to have parents choose a brand new, unwrapped gift for each of their children.
Please bring donations of toys and gifts for children birth to 18 years of age and to the Kirk by December 10. We are looking for a variety of gifts around the $15.00 price point. The Christmas Wish List for ideas of what the children have requested is attached to this newsletter. Let Selena know if you would like to volunteer the day of the gift give away. It is a rewarding volunteering experience.
